I have always loved to stop and listen to street musicians, sometimes to speak with them or smile and show my appreciation of their art. In Perpignan, I had the great fortune of being out on the day of La Fête de la Musique. This is a day where musicians are scattered all over the town and play. I saw the group called La Boutifanfare a few times in all the years I went to Perpignan. They are dressed up in wonderful colorful costumes and they have a great time playing mostly wind instruments.
I have seen this accordionist playing on the streets for years. He often looks very sad and joyless… Only once did I ever see him smile and his music was always great.
