Antoine de Saint-Exupéry mentioned in Le Petit Prince that when one is sad, one likes to look at sunsets.
Maybe so, because it is the end of the day but then again, one can look forward to sunrises. In France, on the northern Atlantic, I saw a magnificent sunset from the walls of the old town of Saint-Malo. In the southern part of France, again another soft sunset from the house of a friend in Saint-Jean-de-Luz on the Atlantic. With my group of photographers, we got up very early to go and photograph the sunrise in Collioure on the Mediterranean. It was worth the lack of sleep to enjoy such beauty. In Vancouver, both are marvelous, but mostly in summer when days are so wonderfully long!
